I am now the proud owner of my very own pair of art doc martens. For those of you that are unfamiliar with the phenomenon, these are old docs that have been painted with a new image. I'm not sure why it's usually Van Gogh (and starry night, for that matter) depicted, but they are beautiful. Tonight I painted my chipped green docs, just the front panels. The right doc shows northern landscape, the left shows a close-up of a planted spruce. They're going into my art show for sure. I will wear them again, but only in nice weather with three coats of varnish on top. I would just about kill for an ultra fine brush to work in details. I also found staples for my staple gun; I can stretch some canvas while I'm at it.
A wedding, tonnes of coffee, two hockey games and the Christmas holidays are over. Bring on the hella tight art. And the lack of sleep to produce it. Meaghan owes me some serious lattes.
