It was an awesome day spent in Peterborough, mostly with Chris Jardin. We had good talks, and when Thom and Elyse joined us late at night, the random adventures began. We picked up some old tires and raced them down Armour Hill (mine, affectionately named Gong Show, came in last). We also went bridge jumping well past midnight. I have never done this before, folks. It involved swimming out to the concrete of a swing bridge (unattached to the land) on the Otonabee, climbing up a steel ladder, and making one's way onto the highest point of the rust/grease covered structure. Then you jump. It is very far down and the water is very black. I was semi nude due to the fact that I didn't want to get my only clean bra wet, but Thom, Elyse and Chris weren't wearing much either so I didn't care. What a rush. Getting up there was difficult, I'm sure that 6 weeks ago I could not have done it. It involved a lot of pulling oneself up onto high things with small footholds. My arms have gotten much stronger. The fall is the craziest feeling...your body thinks that it should have hit the water almost immediately, it's a mind job when it doesn't. Your stomach feels like those roller coaster drops where you hold the handles and scream til it's over. The water was warm. Everyone needs to go bridge jumping, I'd say. That means YOU.
I picked up a magazine at Speak Volumes to keep me entertained at WA....then left it in Chris's car. I'll have to get that. It was a funky feminist mag with a Fat girl manifesto in it. I adored that. I also got a lil present for Meaghan, which she'll get upon return to the patch. She'll just have to wait til then.
Chris and I had great sushi today, and I really enjoyed it. I bought us both sake, which I had never tried. It turned out to be hard rice liquor. The "small" serving ($4.00) also turned out to be about 5 shots of said rice liquor. It came in a little vase, served hot. After one shot, Chris had me finish all of his. Not that he didn't like it, he had just eaten far too much. So I drank about 9 shots of this stuff. I was proper soused for a while, that's for sure. Gave Chris cause to laugh.
Now for sleep. Tomorrow? OSAP and probably fighting off my mom at 7:00 am trying to get me up for staying out so late.
