It's been a whack few days.
This afternoon I sang at the funeral for art stuff, my store. Everyone dressed in black and walked into the grand Vari Hall rotunda, a public space with great acoustics and a lot of student traffic. After eulogies, I was asked to sing Amazing Grace. So I did. All four verses. It was surreal to hear the place go quiet, and to see the students stop and watch from the balconies.
We should appropriate public spaces for hymn singing more often.
Over the weekend, I got a gift...a camera. I brought mine to church just for fun, and Kerri and Joel Kightley saw me with it. Out of nowhere, they offered me theirs. Now, the best part is this. When I get to their house to pick up the camera, I see how extravagant their gift is. My camera is a Pentax SF1. They gave me the Pentax SF10. It's not just a good camera, it's a fantastic camera that I already know the functions for. Thanks, Kightley-trons. I wish I could be so generous and not make a big production of it.
In other news, while heading to the foodbank last week (saving for new boots, and between paycheques) I ran into a buddy of mine near the school chapel. We talked about the crunch of March finances. As I left, he pushed a twenty into my hand, smiled and said "Don't worry: ends will meet."
I'm thankful for these little graces. They are undeserved, but these in addition to a weekend home have been a battery charge to the end of March.
