.if you go down in the woods today

I finally saw a bear on my land this week. I was planting a tiny block (piece of land) that was, oddly, situated behind another block, so we had to walk through planted trees to get to it. The block consisted of some remote pockets, but remember, it was a wee block, maybe 3000 trees. So I'm planting, enjoying the cream, when I hear David the Quebecois call my name. I look over and between him and I is a BIG black bear. This buddy was no juvenile. I started shouting at it, but David called to me in french that the bear was perfectly calm and cogniscient that it was much bigger than us. Shouting did nothing. It just chilled and looked at us, and eventually lumbered off into the treeline. David planted with me for the rest of the day. We sang loud french music.
My leg is functional but weird. It bleeds every day when I work, and now that the swelling has gone down it's become obvious that the stick went in much deeper than I thought. The path of the stick angled upwards and inwards from the entry point, several inches. Eeeeep.
Last night my room was the party room, so I got not a wink of sleep. I need to go get some sweet, sweet chai and call my mom.
