Cribbage, that is. My uncle and aunt have taught me how to play, and I dare say it will give euchre a run for its money for "Shannon's top card games" list. I dreamt of good hands last night.
yesterday, my aunt brought me to the cool indie bookstore (every town needs one, speak volumes woot), and I bought 5 books. They are as follows:
-The Boat that Wouldn't Float ::Farley Mowat::
I first saw it in my grade six classroom, and now I'm appreciating it immensely. Farley Mowat may have been a useless drunkard, but he was funny when he wanted to be, and the book is so Canadian it reeks.
-Not Wanted On the Voyage:: Timothy Findley::
York theatre put this on as a play, and it was damn good. Depressing re-telling of the Noah's ark story. I was told by all the actors and production students to read the book or die. Canadian author, too.
-Call of the Wild/White Fang ::Jack London::
I loved Call of the Wild as a kid, read it over and over. The book I bought has White Fang in it as well, which I haven't read. Two birds with one stone, and set in the Yukon to boot.
-Itty Bitty Van Gogh Journal ::eventually filled by me::
obligatory journal for treeplanting, to keep daily tallies and document my descent from civilization. I read last year's journal from treeplanting, and its kind of scary. Like, once I did a four page all caps happy freakout because a wolf spider had killed the final mosquito in my tent, so I could sleep bug free. A wolf spider.
-Secret present for Meaghan ::Secret Local author::
Don't want to elaborate too much, but she'll like it. It's being sent out via Canada post on Monday.
