If you're interested in being a model, do call me. I pay minimum wage and I desperately need a small ptbo contingent for some big oil paintings. Exhibition at the Spill closer than I'd ever like to admit. And oil paints dry slow.
So, want to hear about my stupid big toe and its horrid pain? :) I was in a pop punk rawk show at camp kara. Some of the male and female campers had very long hair, so I felt it necessary to spread the gospel of good headbanging towards the front, at the same time grabbing campers by the shoulders and shouting "Its a jumping pit!" Some of the repressed moshers took the jumping pit thing a tad too seriously, and were getting big air. One of the campers landed squarely on my big toe, splitting the nail diagonally all across the nail bed. I yelled "Woman down!" and stumbled to the back to seek medical attention. The sight of it sickened my camp's nurse. I spent the rest of the night on krutches, eyeing anyone who came within three feet of me suspiciously, as if they would try to step on my poor little foot.
Well, the past few days have been filled with prayer and creative "vomit" sessions that have produced a few good ideas. Today I called my former manager at WA (the angelic one) and thanked her for her good reference, so I could work at Kara. I told her about the goodness of the week. She told me some odd news...that in the week after I was fired/quit, Luanne fired four of the kids. Right before the largest camp of the summer. Forgive me, I am thinking decidedly uncharitable thoughts. I can forgive WA for what happened to me...I could even forgive her. But to abuse the sixteen year olds, in their first year of real ministry? To fire them, who came to camp with a servant's heart. It makes me so mad. The whole thing would be comical, were I not sure that the camp will not hold her accountable for these erratic and unjustifiable dismissals. I want things in that camp to change...everyone was so unhappy. Quick, Tofu...think encouraging thoughts.
